A fisherman in 𝐶𝑜𝑠𝑡𝑎 𝑅𝑖𝑐𝑎 began his friendship with an alligator 20 years ago after he found the alligator 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑑 on the riverbank with 𝑠𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑔𝑢𝑛𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑡 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑠.
𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 rescued the crocodile and decided to take care of it until it recovered at his home. He even named the crocodile 𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜.
𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 said, “I just want him to feel that someone loves him, that not everyone is bad”. “I love all animals, for it is the one that has 𝑠𝑢𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑.” he added.
He is never afraid though that his kindness will start a very close friendship between him and 𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜. After 𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜 recovers, 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 takes him back to the river where he first saved him, back to his habitat. However, 𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜 walked back to 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜’s house the next day
Since then, 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 has decided to let 𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜 stay in her home for 20 years with the help of a veterinarian.𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜 and 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 grew closer as they played and swam together every day until one-day 𝑃𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑜 𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦 at the age of 50 from natural causes. 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 was truly heartbroken when his best friend 𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦.
Sure, crocodiles aren’t quite so cute and 𝑓𝑙𝑢𝑓𝑓𝑦 to be kept as house pets like dogs and cats. Plus, not many people are brave enough to get close to them, let alone get close to a badly 𝑖𝑛𝑗𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟. One wrong move and you could 𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑘 your life! But 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑡𝑜 did it and he made it happen.
