Despite the fact that dogs and cats both live on land and are easily domesticated, dogs have more in common with aquatic species than with their feline adversaries. Canines and seals, for example, exhibit many similarities, owing to the fact that both fluffy dogs and young seals are classified as Caniformes (which literally means “dog-like”) and belong to the same Carnivora suborder (unlike cats, which are Feliformes).
