Experts recommend regularly cutting the tips, about a centimeter every two months.
Weak, dry, and brittle hair is one of the situations that both men and women must face on a daily basis. Just as there is a wide range of commercial products that help solve these hair problems, there are also other changes that people can carry out in their lifestyle so that this does not happen. Garnier collects a series of tips to achieve this purpose.
First of all, the mass-market cosmetics brand of the French cosmetics company L’Oréal refers to the use of a moisturizing shampoo. Many people usually buy the first shampoo they find on hand or the cheapest, but it must be noted that each type of shampoo works in a different way.
“Shampoos that contain sulfates or alcohol can remove too much natural hydration and make your hair dry too much,” Garnier explains, while recommending looking for a shampoo that is specifically moisturizing, nourishing, or revitalizing. “Shampoos containing oils are especially effective at moisturizing and treating frizzy or dry hair; you should look for a shampoo that has no sulfates or alcohol and contains nourishing oils,” he adds.

Washing your hair, and especially how often it is done, can lead to a problem. People who are used to washing their hair every day can cause their hair to become brittle and dry out natural lubricating oils. in that sense, Garnier recommends trying different hairstyles to avoid washing them so often. You can try collecting the hair, using tweezers, or brushing it in a different way, they are tricks that do not go too far to hide a little dirt from the hair and prolong the washing time.
The conditioner also plays an important role, especially in its ingredients. Look for one that contains vegetable oils and has an unctuous consistency rather than liquid. It will probably mean that it contains a lot of nutrient oils instead of added water,” Garnier recommends. At the same time, he mentions that the conditioner must be left for at least one or two minutes to be able to act on the hair and provide it with the properties it needs.
Accompany the use of the conditioner, occasionally, with intensive treatment, this will bring vitality to the hair. Coconut oil, almonds, macadamia or jojoba, are some products that you can find around the corner and that you can apply on your hair to repair it or, if you prefer, there are countless commercial products that help with this purpose.
Do not apply too much heat. Try to comb, brush or straighten it in the shortest possible time and at low temperature and be sure to protect the hair with a conditioning oil before exposing it to heat.
“We are what we eat,” says the popular adage, a phrase that makes sense also when hair is spoken. “If you consume a reasonable amount of butter and other healthy fats, this will be reflected in your hair, as it will be less brittle, stronger, and will have greater ability to show itself bright and healthy. Eat almonds and macadamia nuts, avocados, and fatty fish like salmon,” Garnier recommends.Multiart © If you consume a reasonable amount of butter and other healthy fats, this will be reflected in your hair.
In addition to a balanced diet, it is also convenient to protect the hair from direct sunlight, as this causes the hair to lose color, flexibility, and shine. You can use a sunscreen spray or mousse or, if you prefer, use a hat, turban, or handkerchief when you know you are going to be exposed to the sun.
Speaking of the sun, it is also advisable to take care of your hair when visiting the beach or a pool. “One of the main culprits of turning hair off and lifeless is chlorine from swimming pools and even to a lesser degree that of domestic tap water,” warns Garnier. Therefore, it is recommended that you wear a swimming cap when you are going to dive into a pool or in the sea and if for some reason you can not do it and your hair touches the water, be sure to wash it as soon as you can.
Cutting hair frequently is another recommendation made by the brand. It does not have to be an abrupt change, but it is recommended to regularly cut the ends about a centimeter every two months, this will help your hair look healthy.
Finally, Garnier warns about hairstyles that tighten the hair, recommends avoiding them. “If you ever pick up your hair with a rubber band, don’t do it! This is very obvious, but if you normally wear your hair in braids, ponytails, with hairpieces, or dreadlocks, these are hairstyles that, in addition to pulling the hair from birth on the scalp, also stretch and tighten each individual hair. This inevitably causes the hair to become brittle and rough. Try alternating complicated hairstyles with more natural and simple ones or reserve them for special occasions,” he concludes.
