Daily walks with the baby are part of the life of a young mother. And in winter it is wind, precipitation, temperature, and humidity change… Therefore, in the cold season, the skin requires more careful care.
Experts identify two factors that aggravate dry skin in winter. The first is the weather: frost and wind, and the second is heating. Hot batteries make the air temperature comfortable for life, but the air itself becomes dry, which, of course, affects our skin. Anyone cream will not be able to save us from all the problems, and for each case, the protection of the skin will be different. Let’s see what means and in what situations it is worth using in the cold season.
1. In winter, before going outside, the skin should be protected, and moisturized indoors
To protect against the weather, not all creams are suitable, but only special creams-emollients, which include cocoa butter, shea butter, jojoba, squalene, beeswax, lanolin, fatty alcohols, and silicones. They do not penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis and serve solely to restore the protective barrier of the skin. Their task is to create a protective film that will not allow cold and wind to damage our skin. Apply creams-emollients should be about 30 minutes before going outside.
2. And it is better to start moisturizing the skin in the evening
There is an opinion that in the cold season it is better to abandon moisturizers, but in fact, this is a big misconception. Moisturizers are vital for maintaining skin health, but in winter they are used exclusively in rooms where, as a rule, very dry air. Apply moisturizing agent to the skin of the face is best in the evening, before bedtime. By the way, a good helper in the fight against dry skin can also be an ordinary humidifier.
3. If necessary, it is worth changing the line of skin care
Often, with a decrease in temperature values, our skin changes its type. For example, an oily skin type becomes a combined or, as it is also called, a mixed type. The combination skin becomes dry and the dry skin becomes even drier. In this case, you will have to completely change the entire line of skincare – from tonics to masks – to a more oily one. Look for richer creams – they give more protection and hydration. Cleanser products should be softer, and possibly even without the use of water – for example, milk or micellar water. Scrubbing should be replaced with more gentle, with less abrasive particles. In addition, you need to increase the interval of application of the scrub: if in the summer we use it once or twice a week, then in winter it will be enough once a week or even two weeks.
The scrub can be replaced with a light peeling with acids for home care, but do not forget that we do not stop using this or that even in severe frosts.
4. Once a month it makes sense to visit a cosmetologist
Now, in the cold season, real salvation for the skin of the face will be bio revitalization – this is a procedure that saturates the skin with hyaluronic acid, and also prevents dry skin. Do not forget about regular cosmetic care, which must be carried out once every three to four weeks. It includes a light moisturizing peel, nourishing masks, and possibly a message that will help your skin improve circulation and nourish it. If you are concerned about very severe dry skin, then such aggressive procedures as a CO2 laser for skin rejuvenation, trichloroacetic peels, and median retinol peels are best excluded or postponed until spring.
5. Include Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet
This is a very effective life hack that will help restore the lipid barrier and remove dry skin. The drug should be taken one gram twice a day, and it would be good to do this not only in winter but also on an ongoing basis. Also, do not neglect products that contain Omega-3 fatty acids (walnuts, salmon, mackerel, white beans, etc.).Don’t miss interesting posts on Onnewslive
